St John's Wood
This is a page for very bored people who type "St John's Wood" into a search engine. A few people seem to be looking for hotels, so here are the ones I know about (there aren't many as it's a residential area):Comments
Local websites: St Marks, the pretty church on Hamilton Terrace, and their magazine for over-fifties "The Lion". You can actually watch an online film about St John's Wood's park. Nathanael O'Reilly has written a guide to the place.
- The Ramada Plaza, Regents Park - this is the largest hotel in St John's Wood. It's just opposite the famous Lord's cricket ground and also handy for Regents Park. It is at the junction of several busy roads though, and it's a modern building, so it really doesn't have a St John's Wood feel.
- The Colonnade - although this is just outside St John's Wood, it has much more authentic feel. It's in the canal area called Little Venice which is one of the most beautiful residental areas of London. My parents stay here when they visit London so I can recommend it -- a really nice place. Alan Turing, considered the inventor of the modern computer, was born here.
- Marriott London Maida Vale - this is another large modern hotel, though it's a much more pleasant building than the Plaza and is partly apartments. It's right on the northern edge of St John's Wood at the border with the neighbouring area, Maida Vale. Even though it's only ten minutes' walk to the centre of St John's Wood, the locality does not feel as safe as further south, especially in the dark. It could be a good choice if it's close to where you're visiting, though.
There is an excellent web cam of the zebra crossing outside Abbey Road Studios. Click the "Fast Connection" button to get it to update frequently. There are tourists taking pictures at the crossing nearly 24 hours a day in the summer which results in websites like this one, which I have to admit is quite a site.
There is a list of web sites located in or near St John's Wood at GeoURL.org. Google News usually has an interesting collection of St John's Wood stories. And UpMyStreet hosts conversations between locals but they're not an interesting as the comments below:
Does Paul McCartney live in St. John's Wood?
Tom Gates, - 25 Jan 2003
Yes, sort of. The home he bought in the sixties and still owns is at 7 Cavendish Avenue, by Lord's. It's shuttered up most of the year though.
Max, - 25 Jan 2003
Max:Thanks for taking the time to respond. It's appreciated.Tom Gates

I am going to be at Abbey Road Studios getting my CD mastered on the 16th and 17th of March - (St. Patricks Day) - is there anything going on in the area for St. Patty's Day? A good gathering with plenty o' pints would be right up my alley.... thanks! Jason - USA (No War! ;-)you can e-mail me at jason@jasonhausman.com - thanks!
Jason, - 11 Mar 2003
I'm going to be on the 18th to 20th of April in the Ramada Plaza Hotel, 18 Lodge Road. I need some information about transport, buses and underground near our hotel. And is there anything interesting I can visit in the area? Could you help me, please?I'm from Spain, and my e-mail is jmemu@ya.com.Thank you.
Carmen, - 30 Mar 2003
There is Abbey Road Studios -- turn left out of your hotel and walk up Grove End Road, it's on your left. Regent's Park is beautiful on a sunny day -- turn right out of the hotel and cross over near the roundabout. The nearest tube station is St John's Wood, which will take you rapidly to Baker Street where you'll want to change for many journeys -- there is also the Planetarium and Madame Tussaud's near that station. St John's Wood High Street is a good but expensive shopping area which is very active on a Saturday or Sunday.
Max, - 2 Apr 2003
Very funny! I'm not bored, I actually have a reason to look for St. John's Wood. Do you have any idea where the residence of John William Waterhouse was?

Yes, I know that Ewan McGregor lives in the St. John's Wood/Belsize Park area in a big white victorian house. He mentions Soho streets a lot and i know that he owns the only pub in Belsize park that's run by a man with an irish accent. With that info, do you know his address?

My wife and I ran into Paul and Heather at their home in St. John's Wood on July 10th. We were driving by and stopped to take a picture. As soon as we stopped the gate opened. Paul was there seeing Heather off in a car. I was tempted to try for an autograph but he didn't look like he wanted to be bothered. I decided that if I ever do meet him, I don't want him to be pissed at me that I was invading his privacy.

chiara, - 23 Sep 2003
We used to live opposite Paul McCartney's house (the address is correct) from about 1968 to 1995. It was a real pain having people hanging around in the street - in the early days it was all the time. It used to be worse for him and his family of course. He doesn't spend much time in London anyway now - he's got places in Sussex, Scotland etc. There used to be tour buses that would stop and let (mostly Japanese) people out to take pictures - I don't know if they still do this.
Sue, - 24 Sep 2003

I lived in St. John's Woods for a year in 1970 at the U.S. Marine Barracks a street off and NW of Regents Park. I don't remember the name of the street anymore. It wasn't too far from the "tube" station. Do you know where the barrack are or were and are they still there?
John K., - 3 Oct 2003
I'm pretty sure there are no USA soldiers here any more, but there is still a barracks for the British Army. It houses the Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery, which does ceremonial stuff.

It should be ilegal to use cameras on the street if you don't have a sign wich tell people that they are watched... Maybe the police could use cameras with out a sign when they deals with hard (?) crimes.

Hello from America. I have a genealogy related question. I am looking for information on Sir Alexander Gollan who lived and died in St. John's Wood. Being in America makes it rather difficult to find much information. Sir Alexander Gollan was for 40 years in the Consular service, being appointed Vice-Consul at Pernambuco, Brazil, in 1856. While there he was awarded the Royal Humane Society's silver medal for saving life. After being in charge of the Consulate at Rio Grande do Sul from 1862 - 1865 and at Coquimbo and Valparaiso he was appointed Consul for Nicaragua in 1876. After further service in Brazil, he was transferred to the Philippine Isles in 1885, and in 1892 was promoted to be Consul-General for Cuba, a position which he held till November, 1898, when he retired on a pension. He received the Jubilee medal in 1897, and was made a K.C.M.G. in May, 1898. He died in St. John's Wood May 5, 1902. Any help in where I may find further information on Sir Alexander Gollan will be greatly appreciated.
Julie, - 27 Oct 2003
Julie, have a look at the 1901 Census site at www.census.pro.gov.uk If you search by person, enter surname 'Gollan' and first name 'Sir' (the search tool doesn't cope with titles properly), gender male and place keyword 'London', it returns the chap you're looking for. Born Scotland, age 61 (at 31st March 1901), resident of the parish of St Marylebone, occupation retired consul general. The search is free, but to see the transcription of the census return, a scan of the original document, or who else lived in the same house there is a small charge.
Dave, - 30 Oct 2003
I love to get both Paul and Ringos home address, If I am ever back in London I would love to see where they live. Also is there a place to send a letter asking for a signed picture. Fo they ever give those. I am guessing not. But it be great to add to my Lennon print.
mary, - 3 Nov 2003
Why had G.K. Chesterton never been to St. John's Wood?
Jason Christopher, - 9 Nov 2003
I would just like to say, I'd LOVE to meet Paul, too. I have been crazy about the Beatles since I was 13 (now I'm 29).
Monika, - 11 Nov 2003
I know that Boy George kept a home in St. John's Wood for many years. He has long since sold the place, and now lives full time in Hampstead (for many years he kept both residences). Do you know the street address? This is the address that had so much police and press attention during his heroin addiction in the late eighties. Much is in the US press these days about these years, since Boy George's "Taboo" has just opened on Broadway. Would love to get to know this neighborhood on my next shuffle over to the UK.
Steve, - 21 Nov 2003

Since hwenwas St John's Wood station on the Jubilee line and what line was the station originally on.
Bob, - 25 Nov 2003
I have been told that St John's Wood is located on a plot of land that belonged to the Order of St John hence the name. Presumably this is the Order known as the Order of the Knights of Malta. Does anyone know anything about this?
Lino, - 7 Dec 2003
From memory, the area belonged to the Knights of St John of Jerusalem. It was densely wooded and had formerly been part of the Great Middlesex Forest.
Max, - 7 Dec 2003
Where can I send a letter to Paul??
Paola, - 8 Dec 2003
Thank you Max. I now have to find out whether the Knights St John of Jerusalem are the Knights of Malta. I am told that there is a connection.
Lino, - 9 Dec 2003
Are there any youth hostels in or near St. John's Wood?
Collins, - 16 Dec 2003

Nate, - 21 Jan 2004
Errr, that "address in Hampstead" is in Clapham (which is on the other side of London). It would be really interesting to know the eighties Alma Square address in St John's Wood if anyone has it.

Hallo to everybody! I'm coming from Rome and I should stay in ST John's Wood in the middle of February( 12-19 ). My first time in London so I hope to have great time and meet nice people. Thank you to everyone who wants to answer me and tell me something about St John's Wood. We could also meet once there. Ciao!! Milena
Milena Spigaglia, - 30 Jan 2004
Do you know where exactly Robbie Williams live in London?
Milena , - 10 Feb 2004
Yes Kate Moss does live in SJW, an estate agent showed me a flat last year that was next to her house. Light pink house with almost an American-style porch around it and lots of automobiles outside. Also Bjork used to live in a basement flat in SJW a couple of years ago, and Annie Lennox did or does live in SJW. The estate agent told me that they are all clustered around a couple streets behind the Lord's Cricket Ground. Jude Law lives in the next neighbourhood over (Primrose Hill) and definitely gets out and about on the main street there, my friends have seen him several times.
C. M., - 20 Feb 2004
Milena -- I don't know exactly where Robbie Williams lives, but I don't think it's St John's Wood because I keep seeing his car in Bayswater and Marylebone High Street.
Max, - 20 Feb 2004

I was actually looking for an apartment management company in Greenbelt Maryland, USA. I couldn't resist clicking this link when I saw it was for extremely bored people. I am one of those people. Nice picture. :P
Brian, - 9 Apr 2004
Some of you people are much too fixated on celebrities. Only rich people can afford to live in London anymore - no-one else can afford the taxes let alone the houses.
Anna, - 8 May 2004
Actually, I'm a Californian, and I know someone who moved there. They have money, but they're no celebrities!
Annalisa, - 10 May 2004
Hey guys, Okay, so I know that Ewan's home address has been discovered by the mass media. Does anyone know where that would be by any chance? I'm going to be in London, and just would like to see it. Come on, for a young fan who's willing to respect his privacy??? (just wants a peak)
Annalisa, - 10 May 2004
I stumbled across this web site my accident. Amazed at the interest there is in St Johns Wood. Anyway, I'm buying a 3 bed apartment at the moment....should be moving in, in about 3-4 weeks. So if any ladies are visiting the area and need some accomodation, let me know - vigor@totalise.co.uk

To those of you that have approached Paul at his Cavendish Ave home (and the rest of you celeb-stalkers) - what did you expect him to do, invite you in for a cup of tea?! How would you feel if strangers kept calling around your house? Go to Soho Square or his concerts or other public appearances if you want to see him - he's got a new baby now, and hates to be approached at home (particularly after what happened to John & George). If you're such big fans, afford him a little respect.
Dom, - 9 Jun 2004
I was looking for the address of Paul (like so many) in St John's Wood... But I guess I don't have much chance that he would actually get my letter... I have been in London a few months ago, and I went on a Beatles-tour. The man who guided us, took us to St. John's Wood and told us that Paul does live there, because he saw him coming out of the house when the new baby was born (the hospital where Heather gave birth, is just at the corner of the street) and he waved to the people in the touring van, but the security told the driver to go... During our tour he wasn’t there? I have seen him in person at his concert in Arnhem last year. I was in the front and he looked at me and gave me very lovely smiles.. And I’m going to his concert coming up in Paris on my birthday! But I still don’t have his autograph? Nice site by the way! Love Aalke from Holland (so is my English is bad, you can blame in on that! Ha ha)

Hi ! I would like to kmow if someone here knows the street or the address of Bjork, because I'm a french fan and I would really kknow what her house looks like. my e mail is cinagalen@aol.com Thanks
Nick, - 23 Jun 2004
I'm pretty sure Bjork moved away a few years ago. She only had a flat here anyway, I don't think it was her proper home.
Max, - 23 Jun 2004
You people are out of your mind! You think that if you email Paul, he'll respond? Especially this Chiara girl! The women he's been in relationships with didn't stalk him outside his house, and take pictures of his house! He yells at you for a reason, leave the man alone!

I once saw Paul McCartney in 1987 in Londons Saint John's wood. He was waiting for a bus believe it or believe it not. He was sat in a bus stop reading a magazine and I said hello and he said hello back. He is a nice guy!

He doesn't live in St John's Wood any more, but during the peak of his fame he did apparently live in one of the houses opposite my flat here in Alma Square. Don't know which number though.
Max, - 26 Aug 2004
Maybe Boy George would have a house in NYC, since he was doing Broadway and such. Iono, it's worth checking into if you really want it. Good luck.
Annalisa, - 27 Aug 2004
it this site still active? Does Mcca still own a home in London what is Soho? and if in london where is the best place to Paul watch. IF there is such a place. Does ringo still live in England? How about george wife and the home he was attacted in? do they still own that?

I saw your future king in Alaska back in 1970's i smoking those cig's of the 60- 70's and walking on the rail road by my house. I started up a hill to get on the road to walk home when I came over the hill I saw a man standing there in suit and long dark coat. I was spooked and mumbled hello he mumbled hello back we both through disapproving stare do to the fact we startle each other I was a girl alone in the early evening and he was and just doing some site seeing and I am sure shocked to have someone pop out of know where. for a moment I thought that guy looks like prince charles. Than the next morning in are local paper saw a pic of him standing looking out to the prince william sound at sunset caption was prince takes in sunset on stopover to Japan. Who'd of thought. I always wonder if that was when he picked the name for his son.

confused, - 6 Sep 2004
Max - I have been doing genealogical research on my ancestors and discovered that in about 1870 my great grandmother lived at 13 Alma Square. Can you tell me if this address has any meaning in present day Alma Square? Also, are you aware of a source for historical photos of the area? I would love to have a better idea of where she lived.
Searching, - 11 Sep 2004
There's still a 13 Alma Square, and I don't think there has been a renumbering so it's probably the same one. Don't know about historical pictures I'm afraid but I could take a picture of number 13 for you if you like.
Max, - 11 Sep 2004
A photo of 13 Alma Square would be wonderful! I'm new to internet communication -- would you post it on your site or email it to me?
Searching, - 11 Sep 2004
Alright, give me a couple of days to get around to doing it. Best to email me with your email address (click "home" at the top and then follow the "contact information" link). I have an old map of Alma Square which was made about 1850, so I may also be able to check that the houses haven't been renumbered.
Max, - 11 Sep 2004
Boy George is at 18 Well Road in Hampstead...just across from the Heath...the house used to belong to wall-eyed actor Marty Feldman. He's been in NYC for nearly a year with only 1 or 2 trips back. His father just died last week, so I would imagine he is in London at present...he is often about on foot with no make-up on during daylight hours....S
Steve, - 24 Sep 2004
A house in Hampstead belonging to him -- presumably the same one -- is available for renting at the moment so it looks like he's moved out. (It was on the front page of the local property magazine.)

Wonder if you can help me I am trying to find out what #12 Avenue Road was in 1963 - Its apartments now. I was born there and would like to know if it was a Mother & Baby home for unmarried Mothers. Many Thanks.
Mary, - 19 Oct 2004
The Avenue Road Clinic was on the corner of Avenue Road and St Edmund's Terrace in St Johns Wood. It was demolished about 8-10 years ago an is now a block of flats. It was very famous in the 60's as an abortion clinic.
David de Vere, - 25 Oct 2004
Thank you so much David for that info. Do you know if there was an un married mothers home there as well. I was born at No 12 and was then adopted straight away. I am in the process of tracing my birth mother and my history.

Does anyone know about Karen Buck's (local MP) record on the Iraq invasion? I distinctly remember reading a justification of her voting for the war on her web site, but it's been removed and the Guardian site seems to say she voted against it in the key debates.
Max, - 4 Nov 2004
Dear Mary, there was an unmarried mothers and married mothers clinic there as well. My two stepsons were born there.
David de Vere, - 4 Nov 2004
Thanks David - Maybe you might be able to tell me if it was private or public and what it was called (apart from 12 Avenue Road). Looking forward to hearing from you once again. Bye for now. My email is maryadams@sunbeach.net

Dear Mary, It was a private clinic and was called "The Avenue Road Clinic". Hope this helps.

Junior, - 7 Dec 2004
Hi, nice site Max. Like many who've posted messages I know St John's Wood through all things Beatles and Abbey Road. I've been to Paul's house on Cavendish Avenue a couple of times just to have a look but I didn't bother ringing the bell because I don't want to be a sad stalker. The first time I was there the windows were boarded up but the last time I went they were open and the Victorian Street light in his front garden was lit so maybe he was home. Maybe I should have buzzed and said hello? It's a beautiful house and apparently only cost him about ?0,000 back in 1964. Must be worth at least a couple of mill at today's prices.
Steve from Nottingham, - 14 Dec 2004
the sticom "AS TIME GOES BY" this was "the residence of Jean and Lionel, cast characters" apparently it supported the fact that they lived in St. John's Wood -- do you know what that address was to have been? Or if any shooting was done at the St. John's wood local? Any input appreciated -- cheers

Max, Just found your site. I wonder if you have ever run across 'Aquila' Street in your ramblings within St. John' Wood? I am researching some family ties to that street from the second war years. Happy New Year to all!
Jim, - 4 Jan 2005
Like a great many visiting this site, I stumbled upon it chiefly as a result of my love of the Beatles. However, of all the places in London I have visited so far, St. John's Wood appeals to me most as a place to aspire to live in - near enough for the benefits of the busiest areas, but with a far more relaxing feeling to it.
Rick, - 11 Jan 2005
does anyones knows Robbie Williams' adress?please?
WEst, - 12 Jan 2005
why on earth would you want to live in St Johns Wood.It is full of snobbery and pretentious people that have to have materialistic things. The area is very appealing at first sight and looks like a nice desirable neighbourhood. What i would do in my opinion and i have lived in both places is to head nort a few miles and check out the beauty of Highgate. This to me is a much nicer place and has a great village that has been untouched by the high street stores. The people are way more down to earth and you wont see some flash sod drive up and down the hig street 20 times a day in his gleaming red ferarri.Out-St Johns Wood In-Highgate.Celeb Free.

From the Wood and Vale:
The Japanese embassy is so alarmed about the attacks that it has issued a warning on its website.
The warning says: "We strongly advise all staff to take the greatest of care travelling to and from the (St John's Wood) station or home.
"If at all possible, avoid walking home alone from the station. Be vigilant at all times and be aware of suspicious individuals following you.
"Avoid poorly lit and empty areas, especially at night."
The embassy reports that a gang of three criminals attacked a man as he walked home from Swiss Cottage tube station on January 18. He was surrounded and a knife was thrust at him. The gang took his wallet.
The next evening, a Japanese man was mugged by two men in Tichfield Road, in St John's Wood.

Sad people, really sad. I stumbled on this site by accident trying to find my local Boots web page in St John's Wood, and wound up on this somehow. Jees you guys are obsessed sad losers. Get a life man- like ANY of these famous people could give a flying F for a rolling doughnut that you even WALK on the same planet THEY do. You are like a mixture between toe jam and mucous to them. Get used to it. Face it-YOU ARE NOBODIES AND THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU AND YOUR STALKING!!!!
Amy, - 25 Apr 2005
Actually, jeeze is spelled j-e-e-z-e not jees. Someone should stalk a spelling wizard sometime soon. Go back to your boots page and leave us to talk about famous people in peace. Do you read any magazines? If you do, you're just as "sad" and stalkerish as the rest of us. So.. get a life and stop stalking us. Thank you!

Many college students reside here, and many of them are dancers... If anyone has a clue to the name of the place I am talking about I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Can anyone tell me what St. Johns Wood was like in the late 1930's to early 1940's, or maybe even suggest a local history? I'm trying to learn as much as I can about one of my relatives, and all I have is her address. Thanks in advance!
Jonathan, - 15 May 2005
If you are familiar with the Area, across the road from the crossing there is a residence with a window. Sitting on the sill of the window is a Cat (a porcelain Cat). I looked very closely and took a photograph. It is a artificial Cat sitting on a window sill. Facing Left- Right, looking in the direction of the Abbey Road Studio(s).

Paul has many homes. He recently bought the Batman mansion in Pasadena, CA, he also has Courtney Love's old house in Beverly Hills. Also the house next to Fatboy Slim's in Brighton. The long time ranch at Peasmarsh, the farm in Scotland are not Heather's favorites. There are photos of most all of these on the web. The only ones I have not found pics of are Peasmarsh.

Hi! I´m going to go to Scotland next August and I have seen that here there are a lot of people who is fun of Ewan Mcgregor, I´m going to visit Perth and Crieff because these towns are included in my tour. You can think "you´re a freaky person!" but I don´t think so I think that all of us love something for example to have a souvenir of a country, tickets of a concert, football match, etc that we have been in and that´s not bad at all!. It´s true that there are people who is very, very fun and disturb but I think that we have to have a respect each other and this is my opinion. Famous people are as normal as us.I only want to know where he was born and grew up, I mean the house or street. I´m not crazy at all! I mean I´m not going to do anything strange! Not even I want to see him (maybe he´s on holidays there, ja,ja!, it´s a joke) although I´d like it of course! but it´s almost impossible and I´m not worried about that, I´m not going to go like a crazy looking for him! I´m not a teenager! If somebody can help me, please contact me flowerlot1@hotmail.com. Sorry for my english! I hope to improve it there!

I was bored and typed "st John's Wood" into the computer. Imagine my suprise when I discoved a website dedicated to bored people like me. For all those people searching for celebrity addresses- perhaps it is better to 'look & don't touch". Imagine your front doorbell being run by strangers all day.

Why did George Harrison smoke himself to death? Why did John Lennon sing "Happiness is a Warm Gun"? Why did Yoko Ono sing "Give Me Something that is Not Cold-Come On-Come On"? Are we, the educated public, responsible for the good health of our fellow men/women? There Will Be An Answer. The Answer is "Maybe We Are". I saw a man at the Bartlett Park Bus Transfer Station during the Summer of 1982. He was obviously in the latter stages of dying from Smoke Cancer. He had no nose. His chin was under developed and some of it was gone. His drooling was so fluid he was wearing a roll of paper towels on his arm for absorption of the drool. The Bus Transit Authority asked him not to ride the City Bus any longer because of his smell. Cigarette smoke products and chewing tobacco products are very deadly. I'm in London now and plan on going to St James tommorrow. And I saw Guys and Dolls last night, we waited outside the stage door to meet Ewan too. We then saw two motorcycles zoom passed down the street. We returned tonight to see if we could find Ewan, again. The same two motorcycles came wailing out of the side exit again. Yes, we are going back again to see if we can get good pics of our mysterious motorcyclists. If anybody has Ewan's address, I'd love to get a pic of his house to bring back home to the States since obviously I'm not going to get a chance to meet him in person. Rumor is he's filming a movie in London...anybody hear anything about that?
NyxCrawler, - 17 Aug 2005
Where in Maida Vale? Near Little Venice or a patch of green (since he used to live by Primrose Hill..)
Lindsey, - 24 Aug 2005
Does Paul McCartney have an address that you can write a letter to and then get a response?
Ammie, - 25 Aug 2005
How did the Beatles break up? Many say it's because of Yoko Ono. But is it true?
Ammie , - 25 Aug 2005
I agree with Annette. I really feel horrible about George smoking to death. Mybe it's why I hate cigarettes so much.

Of course, please recall the Songs that came in later years; "How I Won the War", "Sir Walter Raleigh", "Sun King", "Imagine" and "I Am Losing You". If "Cook Of the House" was any more specific concerning Oven Temperature and Stove-Top Placement it could Rank right-up-there with Award Nominees.

I am the sole member of the adolescent community in St Johns Wood who is either not a fool or an american. St Johns Wood is arguably the worst place in the world for a teenager to live. No one lives here. Apart from fatigued famous people and japanese tourists. And Americans. It is just house after house (the odd pub) house...synagogue...house...house...house

I strongly reccomend not walking your dog in St John's Wood. For fear of fat women.
Tim O'Keefe, - 27 Sep 2005
dear tim , what do you mean, there are fat women in st, john's wood? wow, that's pretty weird. What do the women do, suckle the dogs?
ammie, - 28 Sep 2005
Of course, please recall the Songs that came in later years; "Give Peace A Chance", "Power to the People", "Cold Turkey", "Mind Games" and "Indian Rope Trick". I remember what Lady Jane said on 01/29/2005-"MAKE LOVE, NOT WAR!"
Dick Backo, - 28 Sep 2005

Miles, - 11 Nov 2005
I hope you print that, let everyone know what an asshole he really is......
NICK PERONACE, - 25 Nov 2005
PAUL MCCARTNEY is NOT the same person!!!!! He is a real REAL asshole now!!!!! He was going to met my nephew at a concert. My nephew has cerbralpalse , and the Make A Wish Foundation set everything up. At the last moment we were told by HIS STAFF "Mr. Mccartney doesnt want to meet any retards today" IN THOSE WORDS!!!!!! Paul if you EVER read any of this, let me tell you now Your shit smells, like mine, and if it wernt for me, and everyone eles, you wouldnt be around!!! I DID NOT BUY YOUR NEW CD!!!!! you are a jerk-off, and I hope someday you get yours. RIP LINDA the REAL mccartney. you said yourself, she kept you humble all those years. To bad that gold diger bitch your fucking now blows sunshine up your ass
NICK PERONACE, - 25 Nov 2005
yeah nick? paul is NOT an asshole! It is heart-breaking to hear that he couldn't come and visit your nephew, but did you ever stop and think that maybe that's how the STAFF thinks he feels, and not how PAUL really feels? What if he calls back and apologizes? What if he couldn't make it? I can assure you along with all of the visitors of this site that Paul is sorry for not coming to the occasion! And why bring Linda into it? And whoever the "gold diger bitch" is? yeah, like i said: PAUL IS NOT AN ASSHOLE AND YOU SHOULD NOT SLUR HIM LIKE THAT!
Ammie, - 25 Nov 2005
you dont understand. The gold diger is his "new" wife. funny how she is old enough to be his daughter. can you say "ANNA NICOLE"??? anyway, Linda made sure paul made time for his fans, and for the Make A Wish Foundation. WE flew from PA to Tx to see him. We were told he wanted to met my nephew. Then we were told by his STAFF " paul doesnt want to see any retards today" IN THOSE WORDS> this was check, and set up my the Wish Foundation, AND HIS STAFF!!!!! He changed his mind, and didnt care about us, or the long flight back home. You stick up for him. Fine. But one day you will see, he is only in it for the money. he doesnt care about you, or me. Before Heather, he was the REAL Paul Mccartney.
NICK PERONACE, - 25 Nov 2005
is this site working? I thought you post what people say? Either you lied, your protecting paul. I find it hard to belive, that knowone eles feels the same way I do, or at lest comment about what happened. Or my web is not working right(that I doubt VERY MUCH). If I see this up, then I know all is well. thank you.
NICK PERONACE, - 28 Nov 2005
No more comments about Paul McC please -- this page is about SJW.
Max, - 28 Nov 2005
oh, I see. You know,Its funny how people can go on here and say good things about Mccartney,or talk about meeting him, but when people start saying what an asshole he is, then your site is about SJW. Listen MAX, knowbody cares about SJW. People go on this site,as I did, because there was some talk about Paul McCartney. If people are going on, and talking, you should let them. Be glad your site was found! You put up my last blogg, but nothing anyone eles said about the matter, how dum is that? If your not going to be happy with what people say here, then close it down. If your that pissed off about it, THEN CLOSE IT!!!!! other wise, be happy people are talking on here. There are alot of blogg sites EMPTIE!!!!!!! Lets see if your man enough to put THIS one up on your web. PS: SJW sucks anyway, if you wanta real city to write about, try NEW YORK. Hint: John Lennon lived there Max, youll get even more hits talking about John, then Paul. Most peole liked John. Paul is an ass. (No need to thank me when you get like a million hits!!)
NICK PERONACE, - 28 Nov 2005
Okay, Nick, juss chill. Every man and everybody on this site is entitled to their opinion Although I'm in STAGGERING arguement with Mr. Nick about Mr. McCartney, lets just calm down and handle it like ppl. I'm a regular visitor to this site, so I'll come to ask questions about SJW. Max, when is the best time to go to SJW or any place near there? I may be going to England soon, and I wanna see SJW 4 myself, unless it's really boring there, can u pleez tell me? Thanx!

Hi, I am doing some research about a Medical Center that was operated by the Free French Naval Forces (Forces Navales Françaises Libres) during WWII, which was located at 25 (or 28) St Edmund's Terrace. My father used to be one of the doctors there during the war... Any trace of that any more ?
Patrick, - 3 Dec 2005
Hi Patrick -- I often cycle down that street and I think I'm right in saying that there are no pre-war buildings remaining there. I could be wrong though. Do you know if number 25/28 was a Victorian house, or what?
Max, - 3 Dec 2005
Hi, My name is Philip De Ost, I'm 19 years old and I live in Belgium. I love the Beatles and all their wonderfull songs. One day I was playing some Beatle tunes on my guitar and all of a sudden I was playing a song that containes a mixture of two Beatle songs. The songs being I'm down and Two of us. I was wondering if i could send it to Sir McCartney and get to know what he thinks about it. Cause it's based on his songs. I'm really excited to get an answer. Sincerely Philip De Ost

Gulay Alpay, - 4 Dec 2005
Thanks for looking out, Max... Yes, I have a few war-time pictures taken inside the building, and it does look like - sort of - Victorian style. Probably some sort of large Victorian house that was temporarily transformed into a clinic for treatment of war casualties from the French Free Naval Forces that had joined General De Gaulle in London. There were beds, one large X-ray unit, one surgery operation room. The doctors were from the Naval Forces, I don't know about the nurses... Well, it seems that that house has gone. I was just curious! Merci anyway!
Patrick, - 10 Dec 2005

We just moved to St. John's Wood. When do we get to see a celebrity?
Abby and Toby, - 21 Jan 2006
How long you wait I think depends on whether you're full time celebrity stalkers like a lot of the people on here! I seem to recognise someone about once a year but I'm not exactly on the ball. Anyway, a warm welcome to SJW!
Max, - 21 Jan 2006
We're relatively lazy celeb stalkers, so hopefully we get lucky. Thanks for the welcome! If you've got any must-do's about the area let us know.
Abby and Toby, - 21 Jan 2006
Hmm, not much in the way of must-do's really. The best thing I've discovered recently is how good SJW is for cycling: using the canal towpath you can get to Canary Wharf in the east and Windsor in the west, almost car free. Magic on a sunny day.
Max, - 21 Jan 2006
Thanks for the tip Max. Toby loves the cycling and I enjoy a good walk. Is that the Regent's Canal you're referring to? As you can tell, we're a bit bored here in SJW too.
Abby and Toby, - 21 Jan 2006
Yup, Regents Canal. I think you can just see it on the right of the picture above. Camden Lock is an easy walk and a good laugh on a Sunday (packed out though). Or Little Venice/Paddington Basin in the other direction for a quiet Sunday lunch. Golly, I'm quite the tour guide aren't I?
Max, - 21 Jan 2006
Anyone know what those very loud and strange noises were last night?
, - 26 Jan 2006
I know what you mean -- sounded like London exploding didn't it? Unusual fireworks perhaps?
Max, - 26 Jan 2006
I am SJW born and bred and very proud of it. If you want to stalk a celebtrity you shold go to Barbados - you can sit next to them on the beach - How sad!!!!
Mary, - 26 Jan 2006
Hello my name is Sarah,I'm 16 years old and a huge Simple minds & Depeche mode fan.I'm hoping to start a band one day, that plays songs based on the big hits of the 80's(Big sleep,1999,Bloody sunday,Vienna,Mad world,Tainted love,Roxanne, the logical song, someone, somewhere in summertime,...)and I was wondering if Jim Kerr still lives in SJW and if somebody might know his mail-adres ?

Ok you guys, I got onto this site by accident and I want to say to all of you out there PLEASE STOP TALKING ABOUT PAUL Mc. There are a million and one other things to talk about in St.Johns Wood, there is the, erm, the, erm, and the erm and also the erm. Did I tell you I saw Paul Mc today?

Here's an email to our local MP Karen Buck that I sent this morning with the help of the CTC website (http://www.ctc.org.uk/DesktopDefault.aspx?TabID=4303). Worth considering the same if you use a bike in NW8... Dear Ms Buck, Cyclists in your constituency already have to deal with poor facilities that put them in danger when they choose to put the environment and their fitness ahead of the obvious dangers of cycling in north west London. Examples are the cycle crossings that have been broken for years, and the lack of cycle paths in or near Regents Park, highlighted recently on TV by the writer Alan Bennett. This situation could be about to become much worse: I am very concerned about the new draft of the revised Highway Code, now out for consultation. The new rule telling cyclists that they “should” use cycle facilities where provided, and the existing rule saying that we “should” wear helmets, may at first look like perfectly sensible advice. However, cyclists often have good reasons for not using cycle facilities – many are very poorly designed and some are positively dangerous. The same goes for the pros and cons of helmet-wearing – there is strong evidence and opinions on both sides of the debate (see www.cyclehelmets.org for more information). The advice will therefore have little benefit for cyclists safety, but could be very damaging in other ways. One only has to think of the 9 year old boy who was permanently brain-damaged by a negligent driver. The driver’s insurers promptly claimed that the boy’s parents bore liability for their son’s severe injuries, as they hadn’t made him wear a helmet.
Max, - 26 Feb 2006
Nobody should have to suffer the anguish which they and several other cyclists or their families have gone though, simply because of that one word \"should\". If anything, the legal consequences of the rule about cycle facilities are even more insidious, as it will be far harder to argue against similar “contributory negligence” claims. Please will you therefore press ministers to make the following changes to the Code: * Remove all words which could give rise to unwarranted “contributory negligence” claims against cyclists; * Include clearer advice to drivers on safe interactions with cyclists (e.g. on how much space to leave when overtaking a cyclist); * Ensure that its advice to cyclists (particularly that on negotiating roundabouts) is in line with the Government-backed National Standard for cycle training and; * A recommendation that anyone wishing to improve their confidence and safety should undertake cycle training to the National Standard I look forward to your response. Yours sincerely, Max Christian

Are there a local theatre to see plays in St. John's Wood and/or Swiss Cottage? I can't quite afford anymore West End productions and would like to support local actors. Thx
Lindsey, - 5 Mar 2006
Not quite that local, but a good nearby theatre is The Tricycle http://www.tricycle.co.uk/ Must be a good one in Hampstead as well I'd have thought.

I am trying to make contact with the church for the arrangement of a concert. My group has sung there twice before and would like to do so again. We need contact information for the church. Thank you.

Hi all! I'm a resident of SWJ and in response to an eariler post regarding celeb spotting, for those that might be interested - sainsburys @ the 02 centre. I can't honestly say that I am that bothered myself but have frequently seen famous people their.

My name is Tony Murtagh, I'm a musician from Birmingham, UK now living in Belgium. On Monday 31st July 2006 I have a 12 hour recording session booked at Abbey Road Studios. I am a huge Beatles fan and I really like Macca. This will be a dream come true for me. Best wishes everyone! Tony
Tony Murtagh, - 23 Mar 2006
Im a kiwi who lived and played in SJW for 3 years. There was always plenty of activity there, Oasis, Kate Moss , Appleton Sisters , Sharlene Spiterri, Toploader , Macca were all seen on a regular basis - great spot - try 'The Duke' great place for a cold beer on a barmy English summers afternoon or down the corner at 'The Lords Tavern'

sharon, - 1 Apr 2006
very nice, but how is that night time activities?
, - 2 Apr 2006
Hi Max, I like the idea of this website, its a great idea to create a website where people can chat with other people in their area, but sadly it does seem to have lost its way. Instead of being a community resouce advertising what there is to do in SJW, and why it is such a cool place to like, it appears to have turned into a site for celebrity fanatics to display their obsessive tendencies. It really strkes me as so hollow to obsess about such things. I would also like to point out that anyone who reffers to Paul McCartney as 'Macca' really needs their head looking at. Max, I like your entry about cycling in london, that is what this website needs, comment on issues affecting people rather than entrys from morons taking a break from reading 'Heat' magazine, come on children use your brains!
George, - 3 Apr 2006
Thanks George. So what is there to do in SJW, and why is it a cool place to like?
Max, - 3 Apr 2006
yeah but where does kate moss live?
grace, - 6 Apr 2006
Hi Max, Just a quick message and not being picky but just to say that the Ramada hotel has changed name to the Danubius. Kind regards, Davido
Davido, - 13 Apr 2006
Hi, reading this, SJW sounds really unappealing. I'm moving there in june and this website has really put me off. SJW sounds boring and full of celebrity stalkers. Hopefully, there's more to do there than celeb stalk?!
Anna, - 21 Apr 2006
you can slag off the celeb stalkers, thats fun.
george, - 23 Apr 2006
looking for an aunt who I think used to live at Flat 3, 77 Hamilton Terrace, London, NW8 9QX. However I cannot seem to find this address listed, could anyone please help and let me know if there is such an address please? Thanks, Janie
Janie, - 25 Apr 2006
I'll try to have a look for you Janie -- check back in a few days. In the last 5-10 years a lot of flats on that road have been converted back to houses so that might be it.
Max, - 25 Apr 2006
Thanks Max, I do know that there is a store called Kassis at 77 Hamilton Terrace and I was lead to believe that Kassis was Flat 1, so there just might be a flat 3. However, I would be greatly interested to find out and thank you again. I will check back here in a few days. Janie
Janie, - 26 Apr 2006
to slightly divulge from the topic of celebrity i run a window cleaning business and cover the sjw area and am willing to clean anyones windows whether it is Sir Paul Mccartney or John Smith who may have struck lucky on the lottery and fancied slumming it a bit! We can clean up to 60 feet using a ladderless pole system which guarantees excellent results. For a free quote please phone Premier Window cleaning on 07773327155 for a friendly service.
steve phillips, - 27 Apr 2006
I found this page, while I was looking for the address of s shop in St John's Wood and have to say that I had a damn good laugh. From what I have read, or should I say bothered to read before I cringed too much, you are all obsessed losers and fact-these kind of discussions aren't healthy guys. I live in St John's Wood and am sick to death of fans... especially the [[[racist language deleted by site owner]]] that constantly ask do you know where Paul, Kate, Ewen... live? It's just like why would you want to know? It's not like they're going to invite you in for dinner or something. These people need their privacy and it's quite frustrating having people like all of you wanting to know where they live. Why? It's private! Now I can already predict that some know-it-all bitch is going to come back with a ghastly comment, but it's true-you all need to get a life. Fine be fans... but don't stalk. There is a difference people. If I was them, I'd invest in a steel door.
Elle [surname removed by site owner], - 3 May 2006
Elle -- I happen to agree about the celeb stalking, but please take your racist views elsewhere. Most of the tourists are American, not Asian.
Max, - 3 May 2006
Can I just say that I have been stalked a couple of times, and it's not pretty. It's a surefire way of making sure that your target is totally and utterly turned off. In fact, I was so turned off by the last one that I was nearly physically sick at the sight of him and his marriage proposals and other rubbish. Sorry to sound hard, but you all must realise that the people who you pursue are not real, they are simply a facet of their true selves. In reality, we are normal people, complete with warts, who just happen to be in the public eye for whatever reason. The people who you seek are pure fantasy, and please, for all of our sakes, keep them there.
Liz, - 7 May 2006
I'm a professional photographer who specialises in Celebrities in London. I'm looking for information on Celebrity hangouts in St Johns Wood and the surrounding areas. Do you know who drinks in what pubs? Who walks their dog in what park? If you have real information (not stalker fantasy) then contact me at [..]@hotmail.com I don't need information about celebrities homes, I prefer to let them have their privacy. Cheers.

Does Kate Moss live on Melina Place? do you ever see her or pete doherty strolling the streets?

Raquel, - 17 May 2006
ohhhhh raquel where does pete live? somewhere in hackney eh?
Lucinda, - 18 May 2006
Hi, just discovered this web site. I thought perhaps one or two people might like to know that I was present when the photograph of the Beatles on the Abeey Road zebra crossing was taken. My granparents used to live in Neville Court, a block of flats opposite the recording studios. I was only about 7 years old at the time so I didn't really appreciate what I was seeing to be honest. Oh and by the way, for any Paul McCartney fans, I live about twenty minutes away from his place in Sussex. Haven't seen him since the 60s though (saw Mick Jagger too back then).
Mark, - 21 May 2006
Kate lives in st johns wood, in a cul-de-sac!
Scott, - 27 May 2006
Just a word to the "stalker haters": I haave respected and admired Paul McCartney for over forty years. Last summer I finally got to England. I was lucky enough to be at Cavendish Ave. I quietly walked up to #7, DID NOT bother ANYONE outside their home, and stood a respectful distance from the next door neighbor's OPEN gate without even a thought to invade Paul's or anyone's privacy.
Nanci, - 3 Jun 2006
that doesn't necessarily make you a stalker. but you've got to admit, some of the people round here go a bit overboard.
abby, - 3 Jun 2006
I have lived in Hampstead for 28 years (my entire life) and my cousins live in St John's Wood so I know the whole area very well. There are some nice restaurants and pubs in St John's Wood, but not much else to do, unless you like cricket or you want to scribble on the wall outside Abbey Road (and they repaint that frequently so there's no point really). Someone wanted to know about buses. Lots of buses go through SJW - off the top of my head, there's the 82 (from Victoria to North Finchley via Hyde Park, Selfridge's, SJW, Swiss Cottage, Golders Green), the 13 (Aldwych to Golders Green via Charing Cross, Trafalgar Square, Picadilly Circus, Regent Street, Oxford Street, Selfridge's, SJW, Swiss Cottage), the 113 (similar route to the 13 but branches off towards Brent Cross shopping centre), the 46 (a good one for getting up the hill to Hampstead), 139 (goes to West Hampstead), 187, 189 (goes straight to Brent Cross - hurrah!) I have had a good laugh reading the comments from all the celeb stalkers on this site. I've lived and worked in this area all my life and I very, very rarely see anyone famous (about once a year...) and why would you want to hang around outside someone's house???!! Crazy! There is an American School in St John's Wood - I used to work there (great place) and that is why the area is so full of Americans... I'm surprised the local shops don't take dollars as their main currency. What used to annoy me was that the Americans moved to SJW, sent their kids to ASL, went to the American Church in London and played Little League baseball with other Americans. They never knew any English people!
Daisy, - 3 Jun 2006
does anybody possibly have an address for pete doherty???
gabrielle, - 6 Jun 2006
I guess my message last month wasn't profound enough to rise above Max's cut list. Must be because I'm not a celeb stalker! Thanks Max...

Amanda - 6 Jun 2006, - 6 Jun 2006
Does anyone have a photo of Paul's Cavendish house/gate or Abbey Road with snow? I've been there in the summer, would love to see them in different seasons. Thanks
Nanci, - 8 Jun 2006
I have a "blind date" with someone tomorrow who just E-mailed me her address. She lives in a new housing addition on the outskirts of Bloomington,Indiana called "St James Woods". I was thinking of the lyrics, "Her mother was an heiress, owns a home in St. John's Woods"...by the Stones? I did the search engine thing just as you stated and had to chuckle.

ammie, - 23 Jun 2006
I have lived in St.Johns Wood all my life in one of the biggest houses on Acacia road. i love the location and wont be moving anytime soon...I have never had an opportunity to vent my anguish as most people in SJW just wouldnt understand... I have to say without a doubt SJW Highstreet is one of the worst most revolting places in London now. 15 years ago it was ok now its horrible....full of range rovers and silly UGLY jewish housewives posing(who really all come from Hampstead garden suburb etc and Golders Green) and just go ther to be seen... Vanessa Feltz etc and if u have moved into SJW in the last 10 years you have NO TASTE and are just trying to LIVE THE LIFE on beer money....THANK GOD FOR BORRROWEED MONEY OR RANGE ROVER/PHANTOM SALES WOULD BE DOWN 50%,,,hey ROBBIE... My family have had rangerovers for 30 years BECAUSE WE HAVE BIG DOGS and now my mother cant bear to get in it....My advice, do as i do and go to Notting Hill or Kensington/chelsea. Who wants to go to an up market Golders green....Ughhh...Anyone with real money and taste doeesnt go there....Iv seen Euan Mcgregor many times but never in St. Johns Wood Highstreet (and he lives in clifton Road by the way) Kate moss wouldnt be caught dead there.. (i know that for a fact) and Paul Mcartney only goes to Panzers with his over died red hair lol...Who gives a monkeys....The whole place makes Posh spice look trendy...its an awful place now...tis a shame. Anyone who doesnt agree please mail ur letters to me in my family 11 bedroom compound/house with with offstreet parking for 6 cars. The Reason I dont move out at 23 lol.... stick that in ur pipe and smoke it....SJW losers./estate agents and cheap insignificant Jewish Housewives/men...piss off back to Radlet...AND BY THE WAY IM JEWISH JUST NOT A FLASH, INSECURE SAD ONE

Hey everyone! I have been a Beatles fan my whole life. I guess you can say im pretty old, I went to school with Paul(2 years before he left I began atteding the school)and I have talked to them and been to many of their concerts and such. I live just down the street from Paul's Cavendish Ave home, so to all you fans out there, if you are coming to SJW I recentley saw Paul McCartney outside his home, seems like he wont be leaving any time soon !
Emily, - 27 Jun 2006
Could somebody give me Pete Doherty's address? thnx!
Jade, - 29 Jun 2006
It was said that after a night of partying a couple of nights ago, Heather spent the night at the Cavendish house. I wonder if she is asking for the place in the divorce settlement. Maybe Paul doesn't want the place anymore, but being the sentimental type, I hope he keeps it.
jimmy p, - 30 Jun 2006
Any idea who now lives at No1 Cavendish Rd in SJW? Is it still Billy Fury's partner?
Amanda - 6 Jun 2006, - 30 Jun 2006
For 'Real SJW': How about letting go of some of your anger and attitude? Sounds as though YOU are the one milking the area, hating it and everyone in it so much.
Nanci, - 2 Jul 2006
For "Nanci": I honestly agree with you i think that SJW is a great place to live in if you want it to be(I have been living here my whole life) sure it is filled with celbrities just learn to respect their space. Everyone is great in the neighbourhoods and PAUL MACCARTNEY does not have overly died red hair. So "Real SJW" : go complain somewhere else, you obviously dont respect SJW or the people in it. If anyone sucks in that town its probally you.
Nikki, - 3 Jul 2006
The previous message came from Toronto, Canada.
Max, - 3 Jul 2006
Before all the rock stars bought property on Cavendish Avenue my great-aunt lived at #4.OK, around WW1. Is the house still there? I'll be going to London in October and want to take a photo of it.
Frances, - 4 Jul 2006
Sorry Max, I am currently visiting family in Canada! I am truely a fan of this SJW message board though, I think it is lovely for people to express thier opinions. Excellant idea max, did you come up with this message board?
Nikki, - 5 Jul 2006
To real sjw wtf??? honestly you vent all this anger towards people who choose to live in sjw and yet you do! if you despised the area and its residences so greatly take your range rovers and MOVE ON AND OUT!!!! and as for kate never going to sjw to shop - wrong honey she does! maybe you are not mad but jealous! because these others that you dislike have lives - possibly superifical ones but never the less they are not bitching about their neighbours on the internet! get over yourself!
living it and loving it, - 7 Jul 2006
I've been in London a couple years. I live in Primrose Hill. One of my colleagues mentioned to me that there's an American supermarket in SJW near the American School that sells every darn American food item you could possibly get. Any info on it? There are smaller shops with American food sections in shops in Regents Park Road and another in Rosslyn Hill, Hampstead. What of this one in SJW??
Amerikanski, - 8 Jul 2006
Your colleague probably means Panzers.
Max, - 8 Jul 2006
Hello all, I am moving to SJW in August. I spent an afternoon walking around and taking in the sights and sounds. I have to say it is a real delight! I am looking forward to meeting many of the people who live and work in the SJW area. Could someone kindly post some information regarding a good nursery school in the area? Thanks so much!
Mazama, - 13 Jul 2006
I will be visiting the area in August. Could someone please direct me to Panzers? Coming from Abbey Road Studios. Thanks
Nanci, - 17 Jul 2006
Panzers is on Circus Road which is off Abbey Road
Mal, - 20 Jul 2006
Hey I'm a huge Paul MccCartney fan and sort of tripped up on this website. I was wondering to what full address do you mail letters to Paul? My email is Chefmann92@aol.com. Thanks!
Jim Schiffer, - 26 Jul 2006
Is the centre of St John's Wood (bars and restaurants etc) near the tube station?
Dave, - 3 Aug 2006
@Daisy, 3rd June. I agree, lots and lots of Americans. Not sure it does the area too much good.
Brigit, - 5 Aug 2006

Apparently the cricket commentator Brian Johnston used to have a flat in SJW - anyone know where that was?
SH, - 9 Aug 2006
Hello Im going to London soon visiting friends in Hackney and was wondering if anybody knows where abouts in Hackney East London Pete Docherty lives.
claire, - 10 Aug 2006
you can never have enough Americans, they are much more polite, friendly and generally good natured than the average English person in my opinion, and I am English. The only problem I have with this area is the lack of manners most of the locals seem to have and that for the most part they seem down right grumpy.
George, - 11 Aug 2006
Hi I was in London a few yrs ago amd saw Paul and Heather at the Cavendish house and stayed across the street from the house so as not to impose on them. When she came out of the house and actually started yelling at me to go away. I thought she was very rude. paul just sat in the car waiting for her. They also had a large yellow dog with them.
Leslie, - 27 Aug 2006
thank you for that wonderful peice of information Leslie, its nice to know you have nothing better to do than lurk around across the street from their house, an afternoon well spent I bet. What is wrong with you?
George, - 27 Aug 2006
Hi everyone, I'm going to SJW next week, and I'm a HUGE Beatles fan, does anyone know any great shops to buy Beatles things in the area?
John, - 29 Aug 2006
John, since London was always the "area" of the Beatles, you shouldn't have a problem finding music shops there. Try the V Shop at 64 Kilburn High Road. The phone # is 020 7624 0317. Now I've never actually been there, but I know that it sells stereos, mobile phones, DVD players, video cassettes, DVDs, AND CD's. I assume that there should be a couple of Beatle albums there, but I've heard in reviews that it's sometimes understocked. You can also try the Abbey Road Cafe. It's a cafe as well as a store for Beatles stuff. It also tells you where you can walk where the Beatles walked, such as the street for the Abbey Road Album. Check it out at http://www.abbeyroadcafe.co.uk. How I found this out? I'm a researcher, not a stalker.
ammie, - 1 Sep 2006
please could anyone tell me of some great ladies evening wear shops in sjw or round about for a dinner dance in november thanx
sue, - 4 Sep 2006
I'm an American who lived in SJW 10 years ago. My first daughter was born there in an apartment on Grove End Road that overlooked Abbey Rd studios. It was a quiet, residential area of London. Kinda like Riverdale in NY. I remember the army (?) parading its horses through town. I enjoyed breakfast at Richoux on weekends (still there?) and "salt beef" (like pastrami) sandwiches at a Jewish deli on the high street (name?, still there?). A nice thing about "the Wood," as my wife and I call it, was the short walk to Regents Park. My wife and I would sun bathe there (weather permitting) and later took my baby daughter to the park to see the ducks. The best thing about living there, I think, is the suburban-type lifestyle, but being only 1 stop on the tube from Baker Street and the rest of London.
Regis, - 5 Sep 2006
John, while living in the Wood, my wife bought me a book call "The Beatles London" by Schreuders, Lewisohn & Smith, published by Hamlyn. It has tons of Beatlemania trivia.
Regis, - 5 Sep 2006
When I was 17 I was lucky enough to interview all 4 Beatles. I spent most time with George (my favourite) and Ringo. Talked to Paul and John and spent a total of 2 hours with them here in NZ. What a lucky girl I was. Have the pics and autograph hanging on my wall.
Clare, - 9 Sep 2006
There's a private health club in St Johns Wood called the circle, really exclusive apparantley but I have a friend who exercises there and he has personally met, Jude Law, Kate Moss, Caprice, David Grey, Natalie Imbruglia, paul McCartney has a personal trainer from there and lots of other intertesting people, I'm on the waiting list!
Jasper, - 20 Sep 2006
I never want to meet Paul McCartney
, - 27 Sep 2006
I actually live in St John's Wood. Lived there all my life. I already knew that Paul McCartney lived in that area. I'm not sure about what road they live in. My parents told me that they met Paul McCartney one day. They were out in St John's Wood and they actually saw him there. By the way this is not a joke. Some stars still live in that area like Vanessa Feltz. I saw her by the post office. There's this house in St John's Wood Terrace and some famous people used to live there. Fans used to come up to that house, write messages on the fence and on the gate. I don't know who they are. The one by the chemist on that road between St John's Wood Terrace and St John's Wood High street. As for the health club circle it's still there and it's only a minute away from where I live.
Cindy, - 2 Oct 2006
I'm a personal trainer in St. John's Wood. I've got ten years personal training experience, and I'm certified with the American Council on Exercise and the Register of Exercise Professionals. So, if anyone would like to get in shape by exercising either at home, outside, or a gym, email me at info@onlinepersonaltrainer.co.uk Visit my website: www.onlinepersonaltrainer.co.uk for more details.
Rob, - 5 Oct 2006
Hi. I'm writing from the US, and you Brits might get a good laugh from this. You see, I always thought that Saint John's Wood is a cemetary. I got this notion from the Rolling Stones' song "Play With Fire"; "Your mother is an heiress, owns a block in St. J. W, and your father'd be there with her if he only could. ... but you better watch your step, girl, or start living with your mother." Does anyone know what Mick was trying to say with this?
Frank, - 7 Oct 2006
Frank, a "block" is an apartment building. Her mother owns an apartment building in SJW - from which she gets her wealth. Dad is apparently out playing around.
Mike, - 8 Oct 2006
HI everybody. I am from Spain and I´m doing some notes about Abbey Road Album and the cover photo (Iain McMillan, Aug 8th 1969). If you have anecdotes about it i will be grateful. For example: the man standing on the right side is named Paul Cole from Florida US. Anybody knows something about the group of people on the left side away from the Beetle car? Cheers.

boring!
, - 21 Oct 2006
Hi! Coming to London in December - looking for good restaurants/pubs in the SJW/Notting Hill area. Don't want to hang with the club kid crowd. Any suggestions? Wendy, NYC
Wendy, - 28 Oct 2006
well, wendy. in st. john's wood there is the ordanance (sp?) on ordanance hill which is a nicer looking pub with great food and neat lights (big tree branches with lights put on them). also, the new inn (not sure of the street, but they have a website) is another pub in st john's wood. every saturday night there's a trio of old men called "george and friends". very fun.
abby, - 28 Oct 2006
For','...who never wants to meet Paul and finds this site 'boring'. Why don't you leave it alone and find something that measures up to your impossible standards? Maybe your friends want your opinion,
Nanci, - 30 Oct 2006
burn nanci, burn.
, - 30 Oct 2006
Hi Wendy, The New Inn is on ALLITSEN ROAD in SJW, worth a visit serves excellent Thai food at very reasonable prices if you are in the area take a visit to Hampstead Heath. Enjoy your stay
Mal, - 30 Oct 2006
I must have missed the part when this site was offically crowned the ''macca'' psyco fan club. you obvioulsy have far too much time on your hands if all you can do is think about hunting down a celebrity.
, - 31 Oct 2006
Hey - I'm doing a project on how Lords affects the surrounding area of St. Johns Wood. I need some feedback on how it does e.g. People's opinions, facts, stats - anything that'll help. You can e-mail me at mgokal@hotmail.co.uk. I would really appreciate it. Thanks
Ali, - 2 Nov 2006
Apologies to anyone who entered a message here since 2nd November as unfortunately they have been disappearing into the ether. All should be back to normal now.
Max, - 26 Nov 2006
I am Canadian and have just moved to SJW. I have a great little flat on Kingsmill Terrace, right behind the Tube. I love it here! It is such a great little area. I just joined with the The Circle health club too, no waiting list, I just walked in and signed up.
Jon, - 1 Dec 2006
A very merry christmas to the residents of St. John's Wood, tourists, Beatle fans and celeb stalkers alike :)
Ammie, - 26 Dec 2006
Hey, that is a nice homepage! Can somebody tell me if jude law still lives in st. John`s ?? I mean, when he divorced, he probably moved, or not ?
Cassiopeia, - 3 Jan 2007
Jude Law walked down St Johns Wood Hight Street last week, so I guess he lives close by?
mickey, - 14 Jan 2007
or maybe he was visiting...just a thought.

Hi Does anyone know where l can get some old photos of Avenue Road St Johns Wood? Mainly the bottom end by the park. My great great grandad lived at number 3 and it has long since been demolished to make way for the appartments and l would love to know what it looked like and anything else l can find from that time 1890s to 1905. Thanks Tony Pitt
TONY, - 16 Jan 2007
To "Real SJW 26 June 2006" You might be Jewish, but that does not give you a reason to freely insulting people of your own religion or of any other religion for that matter, especially as your mother is probably one of the "silly UGLY jewish housewives posing". I think what you have written about these women is both sexist and racist (even if they are the same religion as you) and you would be better off keeping your opinions to yourself, instead of insulting people who have absolutely nothing to do with you.
To "Real SJW 26 June 2006", - 18 Jan 2007
I'm moving to London from New York City with my wife and kids in a few weeks, and have a place at a SJW school for my daughter. I'm looking at rentals in the area online, and found this board helpful reading for opinions and resources in SJW. I'm concerned that locals will be materialistic, super-rich folk, but perhaps that's just a stereotype. It'll be convenient to live close to my daughters school, and I'm thinking I can cycle to work in Islington along the Regents Canal. I'd welcome any tips from locals who know the area.
David P, - 18 Jan 2007
Jude Law lives in Maida Vale which borders SJW. Hope that puts your mind at ease Mickey (14/1/2007)
Ed, - 21 Jan 2007
Well, I need to find Paul and Ringo, because I'm starting up a band and I still need to find a bass player and drummer. Plus Paul may be good for backup vocals, I think. So if anyone sees them, please pass the word... much appreciated.
