Max's Home Page

Welcome to the homepage for Max Christian.

If you know me, you might be interested in our wedding video and photos, the contact information page, the gallery, and this blog, which I occasionally update.

By way of introduction, I'm the co-founder of Metropix, the first company to mass-produce computer animation.

The most popular sections of the site are:
  • The Congenital Anosmia Pages: "I am thankful to this site that I could find the name for my problem. It feels very bad to be not able to smell anything." (Neeraj, India) (full Guardian interview also available)
  • Interactive 360° by 360° views in VR London, a guide for tourists: "I can't wait to get over there and see for myself. I feel like I've already been there. This is a great introduction." (Angela, Canada)
  • Impressions of Korea and Japan (1998): "I feel inconvenienced by the lack of our great history [on this page], the national character and culture seen by point of view as an alien." (Sung-gee, Korea)
  • The Net Nostalgia Quiz. "Back in the old days, homepages were cool, exciting, and interesting." (Anon)
Some other stuff is available such as the Samsung 241MP SM241MP page, the old Max on the Web pages, a service that exports data from the Retail Entertainment Database CD, my journey home from work as a sequence of live traffic cameras, the source code for a simple Java/Perl guestbook, an FAQ for the Homechoice ADSL service, and Julian Seward's sequel to bzip, a cache profiler for Linux called cacheprof.

These pages have been featured in various offline media: The Anosmia Pages were featured in The Express, and VR London was mentioned in The Guardian, both UK newspapers. maxuk.net featured again in this August 2004 article in The Guardian about anosmia. A North American TV company, Fox News, based a whole story on the Anosmia Pages, and the Korean weekly Economy21 magazine listed VR London as a "Top Site".
