Door culture
Okay, let's see if we can get this trackback stuff tracking...
Roshan's piece on London door culture reminds me of etiquette here in Korea.
Holding doors open isn't the done thing here at all, so if you're used to making an effort to do it at home it really can confuse people. When I first visited in 1998, I caused a hold-up at a busy doorway by holding the door open. The trouble was, the lady behind me thought I just hadn't finished with the door yet! Perhaps she thought I just liked the feel of the handle. So rather than walking on she just stood there and waited.
Not hugely interesting, but nonetheless a good excuse for a trackback.
